I purchased this unit about a year ago for home use. I came home from a cruise where steam towels were available on demand and wanted this for home.
The unit is simple to use. I fill it up from the sink and put 2 pre-soaked rolled up towels and set it anywhere between 15 minutes and 30 minutes. When it is done, I use tongs to safely remove the towels and briefly cool them. I read other reviews about the unit cracking or melting, so I always try to never go over 30 minutes for the heating and I've been fine.
The feeling on your face is amazing and all face oils immediately dissolve. Afterwards my face has never felt cleaner. Traditional face washing in the sink comes nowhere close to this.
Most of the reviews are bad but I haven't had ANY problems out of this!!! I am a single room salon and this is PERFECT for my mani/pedi/Facials/Ect! I clean it out after I am done and use fresh water the next time. Same thing with the plastic base. I only use it when i need it because it is not meant for constant use. I pre-soak my towels with hot water also (which is recommended).
