My daughter has just started shaving her legs, a chore I despise, so I wanted to find her a razor that was a bit better than the disposables I buy for myself, but the name brands want to make my pocketbook moan. I saw these and thought, “ why not?” So, I tried them out myself, and they are as good as the name brands! I’ve seen some reviews about them gooping up around the edges, but if you keep the plastic shield that comes with it and replace it after each shave, it will prevent this from happening. I have very coarse leg hair and have to shave about every other day to keep smooth legs, and I can get about 3 1/2 weeks use out of each razor. Pretty good…considering I was only getting a weeks worth out of the disposables.

I’ve been a reluctant Gillette Venus (GV) user for 15 years. I say reluctant because, let’s face it, $13 is the cheapest you pay for 4 cartridges?! Ouch!! But every time I tried something cheaper I was let down, so, reluctantly, I stuck with GV. I’m happy to report I’m officially a convert!!
My husband is a firefighter and he likes his head shaved down to practically below the pores. It’s common to use 2-3 cartridges for his head alone. I’m what you’d call a lazy shaver – I procrastinate so long that by the time I actually do shave, you could fashion together a faux taxidermied hamster with all the hair I shave off my body. Usually one cartridge will suffice for my shaving, but needless to say that one cartridge doesn’t last much longer than 2 sessions. So between my husband and I, we go through a 4 pack of cartridges every couple weeks, about $26/month; that turns into over $300 a YEAR!!! 😳
