This is my first time using a straight razor and I have to say, I will not go back to using standard men's razors anymore. The biggest reason for me has always been razor burn. I get the worst razor burn after every shave (only shave my neck and trim my beard), but with the straight razor I get none! I have shaved twice now with virtually no razor burn whatsoever. Secondly, it's a lot easier to use then I thought it would be! The handle on this is nice and it moves around nicely so you can get whatever angles you need. If you haven't shaved with one before, be sure to watch a couple of YouTube videos so you have a good idea of what you should be doing. One thing I would improve: Instructions on how to insert the blades. It's actually really simple, but it took me a while to figure out. It has 2 swinging arms and they split apart after lifting the little guard up and then you set the razor on it.
I bought the vintage (wood) straight razor and it looks great. I tried it out for the first time the other day and it was very sharp and I did get a few knicks, but I think that is because this is my first time using a straight razor, however, it provided a great sharp edge to my beard and my skin was smooth after the use. I would have liked there to be instructions on how to install the blades into the razor as I was fiddling around with it for a while before figuring out what was going on, and that was a little dangerous as I was messing with a very sharp razor for a good 5 minutes.
