I am 61 years old and grew up and lived with terrible dental habits. At the beginning of this year I had periodontal disease. My breath was horrible, like it always has been. I brushed, but it was not doing the job. Sometimes I flossed. I went to the dentist this year at the insistance of my new wife, who couldn’t stand my breath, and got a cleaning and the dentist told me I needed to brush first to remove the bulk of the junk on your teeth, and then use a waterpick To blast out the bacteria and food under my gums. In addition they gave me some horrible stuff to kill the germs to use after the waterpick.
